ESTABLISHED MARIN COUNTY CHORUS SEEKS CONDUCTOR
FOR SUMMER SESSION AND BEYOND
Singers Marin has been making choral music in Marin County for over 30 years. With retirement of founder and artistic director Jan Pedersen Schiff, the singers are looking for a new conductor.
The immediate need is for a summer session conductor. Starting in mid-June, plans call for 10-11 weekly rehearsals, the last 2-3 performed as an outreach at retirement/nursing homes. and a final performance in August. Repertoire will be a mix of contemporary and traditional songs, show tunes, and folk songs. This is a mixed non-auditioned 40+ member chorus (SATB), accustomed to memorizing vocal parts and singing from memory with full attention on the conductor. The summer session is open to families.
The search for a permanent conductor will continue into the chorus’ Fall session, as interested conductors are invited to participate in rehearsals.
All rehearsals will be on either Monday or Tuesday nights in a southern Marin location. Specifics are expected to be available soon.
Samples of our repertoire can be found at www.singersmarin.org under the
Sing With Us heading.
