Overview

Description

Village Presbyterian Church on Mission Road seeks an Assistant Director of Music and leader(s) of several ensembles. It is not required that the Assistant Director of Music lead all listed ensembles (below).

Available Positions (anticipated start date of August 1, 2021):

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MUSIC, Village on Mission – The Assistant Director of Music will assist with concerts, rehearsals, and Sunday morning services, and also direct one or more of the ensembles below and (15 hrs per week for the assistant role alone plus hours for additional ensemble(s) below).

DIRECTOR, The Village Voices (grades 7-12), Village on Mission – This thirty voice chorus of middle and high schoolers sings frequently in Sunday morning worship services and in special evening services including Christmas Eve and Ash Wednesday. The Village Voices currently rehearse from 5-6:30 p.m. on Sunday evenings, prior to youth group, and all plans are well coordinated with our very collaborative youth ministry. Special activities for the Village Voices include overnight lock-ins, an annual choir tour, and church and community events (this position will average 10 hours per week, and could be combined with the Assistant Director of Music role).

DIRECTOR, The More Love Chorale (adult ensemble), Village on Mission – This tight-knit choir serves as a great entry or re-entry for those who are interested in singing without time commitment of singing in worship every Sunday. The More Love Chorale sings in Sunday morning worship services about once per month, and also sings for the community, most recently at retirement homes and in a concert with a local singer/songwriter. The ensemble rehearses from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays from September through May (this position will average 5 hours per week, and could be combined with the Assistant Director of Music role).

DIRECTOR, The Village Brass (currently an adult ensemble), Village on Mission – This volunteer brass ensemble rehearses from 7:30-8:45 p.m. on Wednesdays from September through May, and plays in worship on Sunday mornings monthly. The Village Brass have also recently played for Christmas Eve (pre-pandemic). During the pandemic, this group has performed more in the community, and our wish is for community performances to continue in a form envisioned by the new director (this position will average of 8-10 hours per week, and could be combined with the Assistant Director of Music role).
